Bend City Council gives new taxi code 1st reading

By RL

The Bend City Council had the first reading of an ordinance at their meeting last night that would allow both Uber and Lyft to operate in the Bend Redmond area possibly by this summer. The new taxi code will require annual background checks along with certain insurance and licenses to be in their possession. The new code will need a 2nd reading before it becomes law.
